I recently read this book and it only took me 5 days to read in total. I found myself reading this book for a few hours each day and before I knew it I had finished it. From the first chapter of the book, you learn so much about who Mark is as a person. I wouldn't say it defined him but it definitely played a big role in us knowing who he is. For those of you that don't know who Mark is, he is a New Zealand mixed martial artist and former kickboxer in the UFC as well as the Japanese leagues K1 and PRIDE which were bigger than the UFC until they went under. Word was they got into some sticky stuff with the wrong people.

Mark is known as the KING OF WALK OFFS, he would literally knock a dude out and in the UFC you can continue to punch your opponent on the ground even when they are unconscious until the ref stops you. Mark would knock you the fuck out and just walk off as you are falling to the ground. As he said “He just knew when he hit you with a sweet one”.

So this book goes into the dramas he had with managers, promoters, coaches and the big one for me was his family. I’m telling you when he speaks of the abuse he and his siblings received growing up, I couldn't think of an environment worse that what he was raised in. Now I loved Mark Hunt before I read this book but after it, It has made me appreciate someone who has come from absolute shit and turned his life around through what some would say luck. The first time I heard of him was when my old man sat me down and said watch this, and all fighting fans know this fight, it was Mark Hunt going up against another well known Samoan kiwi fighter in Ray Sefo who was an animal as well. A lot of people would watch that fight and say wtf are they doing. They literally took turns and allowed the other fighter to punch the shit out of their heads. Like I watched that fight and I was the one that came away with brain damage.

He fought with some of the best fighters to ever step foot in the ring and octagon. My favourite fight Mark ever fought and one he speaks about in the book is his fight against Antonio ‘Big Foot’ Silver in 2013. It is arguably the best fight ever in the UFC. It wasn't that there was all the technique that you see from some fighters, but if you watched it, fans know it was an all out WAR from 2 respected fighters! It earned UFC fight of the year!

If I had to rate this book out of 10 for an autobiography it would be a 10 purely because Mark is so vulnerable and is so honest by expressing his flaws. If Mark had the mindset he had like he did later in the book, I couldn't imagine the success he would have had in the ring or octagon. Go grab this book at your local library or from a book store because I'm telling ya, you’ll appreciate where he has come from. He is an example of someone who can turn their life around.
